Purios Play System

– safety surface for playgrounds

A professional system designed for the installation of safety surfaces on playgrounds and outdoor recreational areas. It has been developed for projects where user safety, durability, aesthetics and everyday comfort are the key priorities.

Key system features:

  • Very high flexibility and impact absorption
  • Seamless structure and water permeability
  • Resistance to abrasion and weathering

Applications of Purios Play System

Purios Play System is suitable wherever a durable and safe surface is required for areas used intensively by children. It is a seamless, two-layer polyurethane playground surface installed directly on site using the in-situ method.

The flexible impact-absorbing layer made of SBR granules and the coloured EPDM wearing layer create a durable rubber playground surface that effectively reduces the consequences of falls and retains its performance properties over many years of use.

The system is ideal for:

  • public and school playgrounds
  • playgrounds in residential developments
  • play areas at outdoor swimming facilities
  • pathways in kindergartens and schools
  • recreational areas

Thanks to its high flexibility and the possibility of adjusting the layer thickness, the system can be used beneath playground equipment with different critical fall heights.

Safety surface for playgrounds

A playground safety surface made using the Purios Play System has been designed to provide effective impact absorption and long-lasting durability. Its flexible structure, combining SBR granules with an EPDM wearing layer, helps improve child safety, ensures user comfort and provides resistance to intensive use and changing weather conditions.

The system is installed directly on site using the in-situ method, creating a uniform and seamless surface without joints or prefabricated elements. This technology ensures an aesthetically pleasing finish, reduces the risk of surface irregularities and allows the surface thickness to be adjusted to the required critical fall height (HIC). Depending on the project, the HIC ranges from 1.4 m to 2.5 m.

Structure of Purios Play System

Purios Play System is a complete safety surfacing solution composed of three cooperating layers. Each of them is responsible for different performance properties and the durability of the entire system.

Primer layer
The first stage of the system installation is the application of a polyurethane primer. The primer layer acts as a sealer, improves adhesion to the substrate and reduces the impact of moisture on the subsequent system layers. It forms the foundation for the durability of the entire structure.

SBR base layer
The base layer consists of SBR granules bonded with a polyurethane binder. This is the impact-absorbing layer responsible for impact attenuation (HIC), flexibility and user safety. The thickness of this layer is selected individually according to the type of playground equipment and the required critical fall height.

EPDM wearing layer
The wearing layer is made of coloured EPDM granules combined with a polyurethane binder. It is responsible for the appearance of the surface, abrasion resistance and the mechanical protection of the entire system.

Thanks to the wide range of available colours, it is possible to create patterns, graphics and educational or recreational motifs that enhance the attractiveness of the playground.

Purios polyurethane binders

The quality of a safety playground surface depends not only on the SBR and EPDM granules but also on the binder used. That is why at Purios we use our own polyurethane binders developed and manufactured specifically for durable recreational surfaces.

  • Purios Sport & Play HMP 200
A standard MDI-based polyurethane binder designed for SBR and EPDM granule layers. It provides high mechanical strength and durable bonding of all system components.
  • Purios Sport & Play HMP 210
An MDI-based polyurethane binder with a shortened curing time. It is designed for surface installation at elevated temperatures and allows comfortable application when the air and substrate temperature reaches up to 35°C.
  • Purios Sport & Play HMP 220 UV
An aliphatic polyurethane binder resistant to UV radiation. It is recommended primarily for EPDM wearing layers wherever maintaining colour intensity and stability over many years of use is a priority.

Binders from the Purios Sport & Play HMP product range hold a PZH Hygiene Certificate. This document is issued by the National Institute of Public Health and confirms that the binders have been positively assessed in terms of safety and may be used in sports and recreational surface systems in accordance with their intended application.

Colour range and UV resistance

The EPDM wearing layer is available in a wide range of colours, making it possible to design attractive playgrounds with colourful zones, patterns, educational paths and graphic elements tailored to the character of the project.

Thanks to the use of aliphatic binder technology, the system performs particularly well with EPDM colours that are most susceptible to changes caused by UV radiation, known as sensitive colours, including RAL 6011, RAL 7042, RAL 9010, RAL 5012, RAL 5015, RAL 5018 and RAL 4008.

The use of Purios HMP 220 UV increases the resistance of the wearing layer to ageing caused by sunlight. This results in better colour stability, slower fading and a longer-lasting aesthetic appearance of the surface.

Properties of Purios Play System

More and more investors are choosing safety surfaces made using polyurethane technology because they provide a high level of safety, durability and an attractive appearance for many years of use. An additional advantage is the possibility of creating colourful patterns and motifs that make spaces designed for children more visually appealing. Discover the key properties of Purios Play System:

Very high flexibility and impact absorption

The flexible system layer effectively absorbs impact energy during falls, increasing user safety. The surface thickness is selected according to the required critical fall height (HIC), allowing the system to meet the requirements of different playground projects.

 Seamless structure and water permeability

The surface is installed directly on site, creating a uniform finish without joints or prefabricated elements. The open structure of the system allows rainwater to drain freely, helping the surface dry more quickly and remain comfortable to use.

Wide colour range and design possibilities

The coloured EPDM wearing layer is available in many colour options, making it possible to create attractive playgrounds with graphics, educational paths, activity zones and individual motifs tailored to the character of the project.

Surface thickness from 40 to 120 mm

The system is available in different thickness variants, allowing it to be adapted to the type of playground equipment and the required critical fall height. This makes it suitable for both smaller playgrounds and extensive recreational areas.

 Easy to keep clean

The uniform seamless surface makes everyday cleaning and maintenance easier. The surface is resistant to intensive use and does not require complicated maintenance procedures.

Resistance to abrasion and weathering

The EPDM wearing layer provides high resistance to abrasion and weather conditions. As a result, the surface retains its performance properties and attractive appearance for a long time.
