What is worth knowing about the floor insulation?

The thermal insulation of the floor with foam is key. The cold lingering at the floor causes general discomfort. If you plan on building a place that is safe and cosy for the entire family, then the foam floor insulation is a must.

The cold floor takes its temperature directly from the ground underneath the house. It is assumed that the soil reaches 14-18°C during summer, while in winter it reaches 8 or even 5°C. The concrete and all other rigid floor layers allow the cold to penetrate the building quite freely. Therefore, in the cold months, an uninsulated or poorly insulated floor can be slightly warmer than ice.

The solution is a thermal insulation material with a very favourable thermal conductivity coefficient, such as the Purios foam.

It is a material of high density and strength. It is rigid foam with high compressive strength, so it is ideal as a replacement layer for traditional building products. It fills slots, thoroughly wraps around plumbing conduits and provides effective floor insulation with a thickness as low as 10 centimetres.

All independent approvals and certificates confirm the safety of our polyurethane foam. When it comes to floor insulation systems, the issue of health becomes essential. Certifications of the National Institute of Public Health – the National Institute of Hygiene obtained for all our products confirm that they are health-neutral throughout their period of use.

The Purios insulation systems are used to generate polyurethane foam. This type of plastic does not react with any substances present in the air or in other construction materials. Therefore, when sprayed on the floor, it must not be subject to oxidisation or other reduction in volume. Additional confirmation is provided by a written certificate of the stability of parameters. The certificate states that the Purios spray insulation retains its heat retention capacity, which closely related to the density and volume of the material, for at least 25 years.

Materials can be compared when:

  • the relevant parameters are known, 
  • the materials can be used under the same conditions. 

As for thermal insulation materials, the most important value is the thermal conductivity coefficient. In these terms, the Purios closed-cell foam remains is second to none. It is also worth considering other properties, for instance health effects, durability or recycled or plant-based components. In this case, the Purios foam also performs either better or comparably to traditional materials.

The value of such an investment is affected by factors including but not limited to: 

  • the surface area of the floor, 
  • the type of foam used, 
  • the thickness of the layer sprayed.
