Stone carpet

Stone carpet, also known as resin-bound natural stone flooring, is becoming increasingly popular in Europe due to its durability and attractive appearance. It is perfect for outdoor areas such as terraces, balconies or stairs. The combination of natural stone and resin ensures long-lasting durability, resistance and an elegant look for years to come.

What is a stone carpet?

A stone carpet is a flooring system made by combining marble or quartz aggregate with polyurethane resin. The resulting mixture creates a seamless, permeable and exceptionally durable surface, ideal for both outdoor and indoor use.

It is an excellent alternative to traditional tiles, paving stones or decorative concrete — stone carpet is more durable, easier to maintain and far more aesthetically pleasing.

The aggregate used has no sharp edges, making the surface comfortable to walk on barefoot. The fine stone grains are tightly arranged and the resin binding gives the entire floor a polished, glossy appearance.

A full stone carpet floor provides a unique visual effect and a slightly anti-slip texture, enhancing safety — especially in areas exposed to moisture, such as terraces, balconies or stairs.

Stone carpet – advantages and disadvantages

Durability and resistance

Thanks to the use of polyurethane resin, stone carpet is flexible, strong and durable, while remaining perfectly bonded to the substrate. The surface shows high resistance to mechanical damage and does not lose its color under UV radiation, maintaining its appearance for many years.

Natural beauty and elegance

The stone aggregate gives the surface a unique, natural character. Each section of the floor is one of a kind, which makes stone carpet a popular choice among architects and designers as the most aesthetic form of resin flooring.

Very high adhesion to the substrate

Thanks to excellent adhesion to concrete, stone carpet flooring forms a uniform and stable layer with the substrate. This minimizes the risk of delamination and cracking, even under heavy loads.

Seamless, permeable surface

Water freely passes through the gaps between the stone grains, preventing puddles from forming. This makes stone carpet an ideal solution for terraces, balconies and outdoor stairs.

Safety of use

The surface of stone carpet has anti-slip characteristics while remaining pleasant to the touch – it can even be walked on barefoot.

Ease of maintenance

Thanks to its seamless structure, stone carpet is easy to keep clean – sweeping and occasional washing with water are enough to keep the surface looking like new.

Purios stone carpet – durability for years

Regardless of whether you choose a stone carpet for a terrace, balcony, stairs or a commercial space, the Purios Stone Floor system guarantees an elegant appearance, functionality and reliability for many years.

Our stone carpet is made from selected natural marble aggregate combined with high-quality polyurethane resin. This mixture is applied onto a special epoxy primer, which together ensures exceptional durability, resistance to weather conditions and an aesthetic finish.

The system is available in several color variants, ranging from light beiges and greys, through subtle color shades, to deep black. This makes it easy to match the stone carpet to the character and style of your space.

How to install a stone carpet?

Installing a stone carpet requires proper substrate preparation. The concrete or screed should be carefully leveled, cleaned and degreased to ensure maximum adhesion. It is also important that the substrate is fully cured – at least 28 days after installation.

A priming base coat is applied to the prepared substrate and allowed to dry for approximately 24 hours. Only after this time can the stone carpet be applied. The stone aggregate is thoroughly mixed with the resin until all grains are evenly coated. The prepared mixture is then applied to the surface using a trowel, forming a layer with a maximum thickness of 10 mm.

After 7 days, the floor is fully cured and ready for intensive use, maintaining its durability and aesthetic appearance for many years.
