What is the Purios insulation system?

It is a composition of two well-selected components. Once mixed under pressure and heat, foaming takes place. It takes a few seconds for the material to increase in volume by 100+ times.

Is the PUR foam an effective loft insulator?

The polyurethane foam (also known as the PUR foam) is ideally suited to your attic insulation needs. As for timber trusses, the open-cell foam works out well and has a beneficial effect on moisture levels. Insulating the attic with a 14 cm layer of the closed-cell foam keeps the concrete attic comfortable.

What are the benefits of the polyurethane foam attic insulation?

Warmth is the most important thing. Approximately 25 cm of the open-cell foam helps retain pleasant warmth in fully boarded attics, which type is among the most popular ones. One of the greatest threats to a timber roof structure is airborne moisture. Its main sources are natural humidity and precipitation. Water can penetrate the structure of the roof trusses and then initiate a rotting process leading to damage. The diffusion-open cell foam helps regulate the degree of moisture saturation in the wood, which is of great importance for the safety of the residents and their comfort.

What should you know about sprayed loft insulation?

The polyurethane foam is completely changing the market for thermal insulation materials, displacing and replacing traditional ones. It is applied on site as a mixture of two liquid components. Thanks to the way it is applied:

  • it thoroughly covers the entire surface to be insulated,
  • it permanently adheres to the sprayed substrate,
  • during foaming it also fills gaps, holes and hard-to-reach areas.

 

Our PUR systems create two types of foam:

 

  • open-cell,
  • closed-cell.

The two materials are characterised by distinct differences. The open-cell system is ideal for insulating an attic with timber trusses. It is a lightweight foam with very good thermal insulation properties and open diffusion. Both features are very important for maintaining the comfort and safety of the residents.

The closed-cell system creates a rigid foam with higher density and very high mechanical strength. This is why it is so often used for attics made of a material other than wood, for instance reinforced concrete.

This is a very important issue related to both comfort and heating bills. Traditional materials placed between wooden beams behave according to the laws of physics: they settle and move. Slipping of insulation suspended from strings is a common occurrence. Be that as it may, this does not apply to the Purios systems, which adhere permanently to the substrate while spraying. Studies have also shown that, even after 25 years, the polyurethane foam retains its volume, in other words it does not settle.

Experiences with other home insulation materials show that their impact on health has to be considered in three situations: during the application of the materials, in hot weather and through normal use. While many traditional materials have proven to display pathogenic effects, the PUR foam is completely health-neutral and non-toxic.

Thanks to using the specialised spray equipment operated by certified application specialists, it takes only 1 day to insulate up to 220 m2 of surface. This is up to 14 times faster than is the case with other materials.
